Women Empowerment
Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Udyam Registration Drive by Kalpana Saroj Foundation, FICCI FLO Mumbai & Zhep Udyoginichi
At the Kalpana Saroj Foundation, we believe that real empowerment begins when opportunity meets access. In collaboration with FICCI FLO Mumbai and Zhep Udyoginichi, we launched a powerful series of Udyam Registration Seminars aimed at formalizing and strengthening women-led micro and small enterprises. Why Udyam Registration MattersUdyam Registration is more than just a government formality — it’s a gateway to legitimacy, growth, and opportunity for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises). By getting registered, entrepreneurs gain access to:Government subsidies and schemesPriority sector lendingEasier access to credit and financial supportMarket linkages and business certificationsLegal and operational recognition as a business entityOver 100 Women Registered and EmpoweredThrough these seminars, we successfully registered over 100 women entrepreneurs, many of whom were taking their very first step into the formal economy. For them, this wasn't just a document — it was a moment of transformation, self-reliance, and pride. The ImpactThese sessions were not just about registrations; they were about confidence-building, knowledge-sharing, and network-creating. Each participant left with not only a certificate but with a sense of belonging to a larger ecosystem of support and empowerment.Looking AheadThis initiative is part of our larger mission to build a strong, inclusive entrepreneurial landscape where every woman has the tools, access, and support she needs to thrive. We welcome more collaborations like this that foster economic inclusion and unlock the potential of women across India.
Empowering Her Roots: Women Farmer Development Program
Under the Kalpana Saroj Foundation, in collaboration with FICCI FLO Mumbai, Grow It, and S.H.E.D. Organisation, an impactful Women Farmer Training Program was held in Saphale village, focused on equipping women farmers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to build stronger, more sustainable livelihoods.
Over 70 women participated in this hands-on training, where they learned practical techniques rooted in traditional wisdom and modern innovation. From understanding mulching practices to improve water retention and reduce weed growth, to learning about buy-back options for mulching sheets post-harvest, the training focused on offering real solutions to real problems.
The sessions covered key topics like:
Soil health and fertility using natural and organic methods such as Jeeva Amruth
Smart usage of fertilizers without harming the earth
Importance of planning crop cycles for better yield
Accessing markets for their produce and understanding demand
Answering the challenges women farmers face daily—with clarity and community support
What made this training special was that it wasn’t just theoretical. It was interactive, practical, and deeply connected to their lived experiences. Women asked questions, shared concerns, and left with not only information—but also with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.
At the Kalpana Saroj Foundation, we believe that empowering women in agriculture is not just about better farming—it’s about economic independence, stronger families, and resilient villages.
This is just the beginning of our journey to walk alongside women farmers—supporting, training, and celebrating their leadership in India’s farming future.
The Saree Bank: Threads of Tradition, Threads of Strength
The idea for the Saree Bank was born on Saree Day—a simple yet powerful thought: Why limit the celebration to just one day? Why not make every festival a moment where women feel seen, valued, and part of something bigger?
With this vision, the Kalpana Saroj Foundation launched the Saree Bank—an initiative aimed at bringing dignity and joy to women, especially house helps and women from rural communities. Through this initiative, women are registered with the Foundation and gifted sarees during festivals throughout the year—not just on Saree Day. It's a small gesture with a big message: You matter, and you belong in every celebration.
Our first Saree Bank event took place in Saphale and Nane villages in Palghar, in collaboration with FICCI FLO Mumbai and Govardhan Eco Village. The atmosphere was filled with warmth, community spirit, and genuine happiness.
As sarees were handed over, what stood out were the authentic smiles—the kind that comes from feeling appreciated. Many women shared how thoughtful it felt to be remembered, not just with material gifts, but with a sense of inclusion.
The Saree Bank is not about charity—it’s about recognition, respect, and celebrating women who are the backbone of our homes and villages.
At the Kalpana Saroj Foundation, we believe that real change comes from small, consistent acts of kindness—and this is just the beginning.
Rural Transformation
Empowering Farmers for a Sustainable Future
The Kalpana Saroj Foundation, in collaboration with FICCI FLO Mumbai and Saguna Baug, successfully conducted a comprehensive farmer training program for over 60 farmers from Naregaon, Wada, Palghar District.
This initiative focused on empowering farmers with practical knowledge in traditional cropping techniques, with a strong emphasis on the importance of no-till farming. Participants were introduced to soil health practices that not only preserve the land but also enhance nutrition and lead to healthier food production.
A smart planting equipment was showcased during the training, designed to simplify land calculations. This tool helps farmers understand the exact quantity of seeds, fertilizers, and expected production output based on land size.
Given that rice is the predominant crop in Palghar, the training also covered post-rice cropping strategies—highlighting which crops are beneficial to plant next and which to avoid to ensure sustainability and improve yield.
Farmers were further educated about market linkages and opportunities, equipping them with knowledge to make informed, profitable decisions.
Through this initiative, we are proud to contribute to building a resilient, self-reliant farming community—where knowledge, innovation, and tradition go hand in hand.
Capacity Building And Incubation
Digital Doors to Growth: ONDC Awareness for Women Entrepreneurs
At the Kalpana Saroj Foundation, every initiative—big or small—focuses on creating real opportunities for women. In collaboration with FICCI FLO Mumbai and Zhep Udyoginichi, we hosted a practical, informative session on ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) to help women entrepreneurs learn how to grow their businesses in the digital age.
Led by Mr. Dheeraj Kumar, a government expert on ONDC, the session simplified the concept and showed its direct relevance for local entrepreneurs. He explained why ONDC matters, how it levels the playing field for small businesses, and the step-by-step process of getting started.
The impact was immediate—many women registered on ONDC right after the session, taking a concrete step toward expanding their market access. For several, it was their first move into formal digital commerce. They asked sharp questions, shared concerns, and, most importantly, felt seen and supported in a system that often overlooks grassroots entrepreneurs.
At the Kalpana Saroj Foundation, we believe true empowerment comes from knowledge, access, and action. Programs like these may seem small, but they open new doors—and each door takes a woman entrepreneur closer to independence, growth, and confidence. Change begins this way—one session, one skill, one woman at a time.
